More than a quarter of broadband users have never changed the password on their router, a new survey has revealed.
According to research by ISPreview.co.uk, 25.9 per cent still have their default password in place.
Furthermore, 23.9 per cent of survey respondents admitted they have never changed the admin password on their router.
However, the poll also found that 92.5 per cent of people did know how to use the admin interface on their broadband router.
In addition, 79.6 per cent of respondents said their home broadband router has never been hacked, although a further 16.9 per cent acknowledged they were not sure if this had occurred.
Most people were typically found to limit home Wi-Fi access to friends and family, with 44.5 per cent favouring this option.
However, 38.2 per cent limited Wi-Fi access exclusively to family members, while 13.8 per cent restricted it to themselves.
Just two per cent said their home Wi-Fi service was open to all, while only 1.3 per cent opened it out to family, friends and neighbours.
