TalkTalk believes growing innovation and competition in the Ethernet market could make a big difference to business broadband customers.
The provider stated that since Ofcom announced it would give other operators access to BT’s dark fibre, it has been “excited” about the opportunities this could open up for businesses.
“TalkTalk helped transform the consumer broadband market after the unbundling of domestic exchanges in 2003,” it commented.
“We firmly believe that this could drive a similar revolution in business connectivity.”
According to the provider, there is currently an “insatiable appetite” among businesses for greater connectivity.
This, it said, is why Openreach’s dark fibre access (DFA) drive, designed to deliver high capacity Ethernet connectivity to a record number of businesses, is “so important”.
“TalkTalk Business has been leading the way to make sure UK PLC will be able to meet the data-intensive demands of future working practices as easily, and cost-effectively, as possible,” the company stated.
While the company acknowledged that many of the details regarding DFA are still to be worked out, it expressed confidence that it would be a success.
TalkTalk predicted that DFA would give businesses in the UK more flexibility than ever when it comes to delivering differentiated service offerings for their end customers.
As a result, businesses would be able to create new revenue streams and boost growth.
TalkTalk added that it has the background in innovation and commitment to customer services that is needed to ensure its partners can “make the most of the dark fibre opportunity”.
