About Virgin Media broadband

Virgin Media offers some of the fastest broadband speeds on the market thanks to its fibre-optic broadband network. All of Virgin’s broadband packages give you speeds of up to 100Mb at a minimum, but you can get up to 300Mb, depending on the package you choose.

One of Virgin Media broadband’s biggest sells is that its super-fast fibre-optic network means customers can play online games or stream TV, movies and music more smoothly and without buffering.

Virgin Media packages also provide subscribers with higher bandwidth than standard copper broadband. This means that multiple occupants of the same household can be online simultaneously with minimal impact on speeds or connection quality.

Founded by Richard Branson in 1989, Virgin Media, formerly known as NTL:Telewest, now has four major areas of business: television, mobile phones, landline phones and internet.

Because of this ‘quadruple-play’ set-up, Virgin Media is able to offer its customers combination deals known as ‘bundles’, which group together some or all of these services for a lower monthly rate than if customers subscribed to the services separately.

Customer service

Virgin Media has won a number of awards for its customer support, which is free to call from a Virgin Media landline.

The Virgin Media internet service centre is open seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm.

There’s also the option of Virgin Remote Assistance, providing free online support for customers who can chat online to a member of the team.

Each Virgin broadband package option comes with a free modem for connection. The top-end Hub 3.0 is among the fastest wireless routers on the market.

Virgin Media television products come with a TiVo box or the V6, Virgin’s new set-top box.
